About Us


a.  Vision
The vision of the department is to produce technicians who should be capable of carrying out and supervising Chemical Processes in Chemical Engineering based industries.CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
The Department of Chemical Engineering is one of the six Engineering departments of this great institute. It offers just ND Programme at present. It was established in September 2012 (i.e. 2012/2013 Academic Year). Since then one set of ND Students have been graduated.

b. Philosophy
The chemical Engineering Technology programme is designed to reflect a FUNCTIONAL philosophy of education.
While seeking to achieve academic excellence and promote the furtherance of knowledge, the Chemical Engineering Technology programme also seeks to aid “…the acquisition of appropriate skills, abilities and competence, both mental and physical as equipment for the individual to live in and contribute to the development of his/her society…”
c. Aim & Objectives
The Aim of the Department is to produce medium skilled technicians with enough technical knowledge to compete in the labor market and to help in the development of the national economy.
This can only be achieved through the following objectives:
Assist in carrying out chemical analysis in industrial laboratories.
Assist in production processes in chemical based industries.
Market industrial chemicals.
Establish and manage cottage process industry.
Carry out routine inspection, maintenance and repairs of chemical process equipment.

d. Requirements for entry into the National Diploma Program
Candidates for admission into the programme should have:
A minimum of four credit level passes in at most two sittings in Senior Secondary School Certificate ( NECO or
WAEC) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) ordinary level or NTC which must include; Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics and any of the following:-
Agricultural Science
Technical Drawing
Further Mathematics
Basic Electronics
Metal Work
Geography and at least a pass in English language
Successfully completed the Board’s recognized Pre-National Diploma (Science and Technology)
Course may be admitted into the programme. Such candidates must have passed Chemistry, Physics, English Language and Mathematics at SSCE/NTC or GCE O’level before undertaking the course.

e. Brief on the Activities of the Department
Apart from regular class work, the department organizes excursion programme for each class (i.e. ND I and ND II) at least once a year, seminars for ND II and SIWES for ND I, etc.

Egbo Jude

Head of Department.

He hails from Nkanu – East LGA in Enugu State, happily married. A graduate of Chemical Engineering from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka where he was awarded a B.Eng Chemical Engineering in 2010.

Engr Donald T. Kukwa

Lecturer I

He is a graduate of University of Sokoto where he bagged a B.Sc (Applied Chemistry) in 1985, he further proceeded to the University of Benin where he was awarded a PGD and M.Eng in Chemical Engineering. He is currently a PHD student of Chemical Engineering in the University of Benin.

Okechukwu E. Henry

Lecturer III

is a graduate of Rivers State University of Science & Technology, Port – Harcourt where he was awarded with B.Tech Petroleum Engineering in 2012.

Oseni Nofisat

Lecturer III

She is an indigene of Ijebu North LGA of Ogun State, a graduate of Petroleum and Petrochemical Science, 2012 were she bagged a B.Sc (Ed) degree. She is currently single and acts.
