The Department of Science Laboratory Technology was created on the 7th of October 2013 under the administration of Brig Gen Enenche (DOS) of the institution. The Department is located in a serene environment conducive for effective learning. The Department have a well-equipped Physics/Physics Electronic laboratory, Chemistry/Biochemistry laboratory, Biology/Microbiology laboratory and also a glassblowing workshop, botanical garden and a fish pond. This facilities present in the department helps to promote effective and efficient teaching and learning process and scientific skills.
MISSION AND VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT
Themission and vision of the department is to ensure that qualitative education and effective training to become good technicians capable of carrying out various laboratory analysis and practical works under the supervision of a qualified laboratory technologist is/will be achieved. Also to produce diplomats who are able to bend the forces and materials of nature to the good of mankind for the present and future generation.
AIM &OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAMME
The National Diploma Programme in Science Laboratory Technology is designed to produce technicians capable of carrying out various laboratory analysis and practical works under the supervision of a technologist.
– Assist in chemical analysis and quality control in: industry (oil, food, brewing, detergent, textiles, etc.), hospitals, schools, colleges and research institutions.
– Assist in physics and electronic laboratories with physical analyses and the maintenance of instrumentation
– Assist in biological and biochemical analysis and experiments in hospitals, schools, colleges and research institutes
– Prepare students for employment in related work such as sales, marketing, administration and management in the industries in 1 above and, also, for self-employment.
The minimum entry requirement for the National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology Programme is Five (5) credit in either G.C.E, W.A.S.C, S.S.C.E, N.A.B.TEC or N.E.C.O.
The subjects must include the following;

5. Biology or Agricultural Science in not more than two sittings
Candidates who have successfully completed the Board’s recognized Pre-National Diploma (Science and Technology) course may be admitted into the programme.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING
(A) Applicants with any of the following qualification may be considered for admission into the National Diploma program by direct entry.
(i) S.S.S.C or its equivalent (N.T.C or NABTEB, WASSCE, NECO, GCE O’LEVEL) with credit in physics, Mathematics, English and any other two subjects from the following: Further mathematics, Fine Art/Technical Drawing, Geography, Economics, Chemistry/Biology, Agricultural science, Building Construction obtained at not more than two sittings.
(ii) Five credit passes in relevant subjects as stated in (1) above obtained at the final examination of an NBTE recognized preliminary ND program offered in a polytechnic or similar post-secondary technical institution.
(B) Applicant to be considered for admission into the Higher National Diploma program should meet the following qualifications.
(i) S.S.S.C or its equivalent (N.T.C or NABTEB, WASSCE, NECO, GCE O’LEVEL) with credit in Physics, Mathematics, English and any other two subject form the following Further Mathematics, Fine Art/Technical Drawing, Geography, Economics, Chemistry/Biology, Agricultural science, Building Construction obtained at not more than two sittings.
(ii) Must have completed National Diploma or National certificate Examination (Technical) in related fields such as Architectural Technology, Quantity Surveying, Estate management, Building Technology from NBTE recognized and accredited Polytechnic or similar Technology institution.
(iii) With a minimum result classification of a lower credit with one year industrial training experience letter of completion or a pass classification grade with a two year industrial training experience letter of completion from related industry field of study.
Students of the department of Science Laboratory Technology in a practical session. The course is practical based to equip the students with the requisite skills on completion of their studies.
