The EDC of NAITES was established in 2013, following the order from the Federal Government of Nigeria that all tertiary institutions must establish an ED Centre for the training of undergraduates in the area of skill acquisition. Here, the accreditation of departments in various tertiary institutions can only be possible by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), who is the accrediting body for polytechnics when such polytechnics have established a functional EDC which will train students in skill acquisition to be self-reliant even in the face of unemployment.
